Artist Statement:
My work explores the geometries and movements that exist within a city. The energy of the streets by day, the architectural surfaces, signage and graffiti all bind my art practice closely with the streetscape. I’m fascinated by the transformation of the city at night. The shift in colors to nearly monochrome, the disjointed, illuminated surfaces floating in space and the abounding deep shadows evoke feelings of tranquility and reflection on the unknown and the possible. Grisha Camargo is a San Francisco born and raised artist and architect, currently living in México City. He received a degree in architecture from UC Berkeley and has since worked as an architect, artist and muralist in the Bay Area and México City.
